Elimination Of Independent Paths At The 2023 SEA Games To Avoid Polemics, The Existing Squad Is Considered Effective
JAKARTA - Pupus has hoped that sports athletes who are not included in the list of Indonesian contingents at the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia announced by the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo.
The Minister of Youth and Sports emphasized that there will be no independent route that will allow sports outside the selected list to send their athletes to the event which will take place on May 5-17.
The decision was taken after Dito during a meeting with stakeholders such as the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) or NOC Indonesia, the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI), and a review team at the Kemenpora Office, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday.
"We have agreed that there will still be no independent route. We will dispatch what we have agreed on together, there is no independent path," said Dito.
This, continued Dito, so that there is no polemic.
Dito officially announced the Indonesian contingent at the 2023 SEA Games totaling 599 athletes with details of 379 male athletes and 220 female women.
The Red and White contingent will compete in 31 sports out of a total of 36 contested or contested at the largest sporting event in Southeast Asia, the 32nd edition.
When compared to the previous SEA Games that were rolling in Vietnam, the number of the Red and White Contingent increased. At that time, Indonesia sent 499 athletes.
"There has been an increase of almost 100 athletes compared to the Vietnam SEA Games. Because, at the SEA Games Cambodia has competed more in team sports," said Dito.
With the existing contingent, Dito said Indonesia's target was to rank the same as the Vietnam SEA Games. "For the gold medal, the target is to win 60 gold. Hopefully, it will miss, but above," concluded Dito, as quoted from Antara.
