JAKARTA - Meta has finally launched legs for its Meta Quest avatar, which previously only featured the upper body. The Meta device has long been a gossip for showing only the upper body without legs.

Now with this update, these avatars can be used by beta testers for Meta Quest Home, not Horizon Worlds games. While it hasn't appeared on Horizon Worlds yet, the new version of avatar is already in beta for mobile and web apps.

Some users reported that they saw the legs on other people's avatars. However, it seems that avatar movements don't match when users are squatting and they can only see their own feet when reflected.

The new Leg IK for Meta is a good start. They Kept their opinion that you should only see them as a third person view The relax of voting is probably the most glaring issue of it so far. But progress pic.twitter.com/0s5jmIvuvW

Meta first said they were working on the legs in September last year, and announced in October the feature would be coming soon.

"I know you've been waiting for this. Everyone is waiting for this," said Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, at the time. "But really, feet are hard, that's why other virtual reality systems don't have them either," he added.

In addition to launching the legs, Meta is also claimed to increase hand tracking and automatic switching between controllers and hands, as quoted by Mashable and The Verge, Wednesday, August 30.

There is no further information on when all these new features will launch, it is suspected that Meta will likely release it on the Meta Connect 2023 which will be held on September 27.
