JAKARTA - Head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri on Wednesday, June 21, officially announced that Instagram users can now download reels posted by other users.
Unfortunately, the ability to download reels has only been rolled out to users in the United States (US), and will probably be extended to more users in the future.
"In the US, we're rolling out the ability to download rolls shared by public accounts to your camera roll. Just tap the Share icon on the reel you like and select Download," Mosseri wrote on his broadcast channel on Instagram.

With this new capability, you may be able to download reels from other people's accounts. However, Mosseri emphasizes that you cannot download reels that are private accounts or accounts that have been locked by their owners.
"It should be noted, reels shared by private accounts cannot be downloaded and public accounts may turn off the ability for people to download their reels in Account Settings," he added.
This announcement comes after Meta announced several new features coming to the Instagram broadcast channel, such as share to stories, questions, channel tab in inbox, and many more.
