Sony Will Launch Special Earbuds For PS5, Claimed To Beat The AirPods Market

JAKARTA - A new rumor has surfaced stating that Sony may be developing a pair of special wireless earbuds for the PS5, which it claims can beat the market for Apple's AirPods.

A leak to Tom Henderson from Insider Gaming has revealed that Sony is reportedly working on a pair of wireless earbuds for the PS5

Codenamed Project Nomad, these in-ear headphones can bring a premium audio experience to a much smaller size on consoles.

The new earbuds are currently in the works, and it's touted that the battery life will also last the Airpods equivalent of five hours when using spatial surround sound, which is also supported by the PS5.

This product will use USB-C, meaning it can be easily charged via the front port on the PS5 console. Project Nomad appears to be able to charge through the case for fast charging from the cable.

Wireless earbuds for PS5 reportedly won't be coming alone as Henderson revealed Sony is working on another new headset.

The headset, referred to as the Voyager, is supposed to function similarly to Sony's existing INZONE headphones.

It is not certain when Sony will launch these earbuds, but the leak claims the new earbuds from Sony will be released sometime in the 2023 fiscal year, from April 2023 to March 2024.

The rumors of new PS5 earbuds have arisen as peripherals have been a major focus for Sony for the last few months.

Sony launched the first major revision for the PS5 controller, DualSense Edge late last month featuring customizable parts and settings, as quoted from Gamerant, Wednesday, February 22.

The developer also revealed at the beginning of the year Project Leonardo, a unique customizable controller designed for players with disabilities. The wireless earbuds will fit perfectly into Sony's line of peripherals looking to enhance the player's experience on the PlayStation console.

Sony hasn't made any official announcements about the new earbuds that will be launching for the PS5 yet. However, in the end, the price and features of this new product will determine the success of Sony's attempt to enter the world of the best gaming earbuds on PS5.
