JAKARTA - A senior Ukrainian official on Tuesday, January 17, scapegoated the Russian side for carrying out more than 2.000 cyber attacks on Ukraine in 2022. This official confirmed this while speaking at a press conference which he said had also been postponed due to cyber attacks .

The senior Ukrainian official, Yuriy Schygol, told reporters that his live conference had been forced to start 15 minutes late due to a hack from Russia. Unfortunately he didn't explain or provide evidence for his statement.

"All the Russian hackers could do was delay the start of our briefing by 15 minutes," said Schygol, head of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection.

During a news briefing, he said Ukraine had been hit by 2.194 cyberattacks in 2022, of which 1.655 occurred after the February 24 invasion of Moscow.

"Ukrainian government institutions experienced 557 cyber attacks last year," he told reporters. He also blaming Moscow for most of the attacks.

"Basically all the hackers working with Russia, most of them don't even hide their affiliation," said Schygol.

There has been no counter comment from Moscow on the allegations so far.
