Apple Removes the Apple HomeKit Architecture on iOS 16.2 For Temporary

JAKARTA - Apple has temporarily removed the option to upgrade to the new Home architecture, a special feature of iOS 16.2 after users reported several complaints.

"We are temporarily removing the option to upgrade to the new Home architecture. The option to upgrade will return soon. If you have already upgraded, you are not affected by this change," Apple said in a support page found by MacRumors, quoted Monday, December 26.

Released as part of iOS 16.2 and macOS Ventura 13.1 last December 13, Apple released the new Home application architecture.

According to the company at the time, this new architecture would make the experience of using HomeKit accessories more efficient and reliable. However, the company has now withdrawn the option to upgrade to the new architecture as users have complained about issues with HomeKit.

Although Apple says the rewrite will make the platform "more reliable and efficient," some users who installed the software experienced problems, including Siri terms not working properly and appearing in the Home app.

"We're aware of an issue that may impact users' ability to share Home within the Home app. A fix will be available soon," an Apple spokesperson told The Verge when confirmed.

So, Apple took the decision to remove the upgrade option to the new Home architecture, and users who are already using this feature will not be affected

"Meanwhile, we have temporarily removed the option to upgrade to the new Home architecture. Users who have already upgraded will not be affected," it added.

If you've installed the new architecture, you'll have to wait for Apple to release a fix for the software, and there's no option to go back to the old framework.
