Tesla Opens New Battery Energy Storage Plant in Lathrop, California

JAKARTA - Electric car company Tesla officially opened its Megafactory, its new battery energy storage system (BEES) factory in Lathrop, California, two days ago.

"Meet Megafactory, our new Megapack factory in Lathrop, CA. Join us in building the future of energy storage", Elon Musk's company wrote in a LinkedIn post.

Along with the announcement, Tesla also shared a short 27-second video showing how things are going at the plant located in California.

The company then shared a link where they were looking for 39 job positions to be placed at Lathrop Megafactory, ranging from welders, engineers, supervisors, and so on.

Judging from the announcement Tesla shared via InsideEVs last year, the Lathrop Megafactory is expected to have an annual output capacity of 40 GWh.

"We recently announced our new Megapack plant with a capacity of 40 GWh, which compares to the total deployment of Megapack 3 GWh in the last 12 months", the electric car brand wrote last year.

With the new manufacturing facility, Tesla's Energy business is now expected to expand rapidly. Once the Lathrop plant is completed, more than 10 GWh must be installed per quarter.

Tesla recently launched the latest J1772 wall connector as a charging solution for all types of EVs, whether Tesla or non-Tesla electric vehicles.

Tesla's launch of the J1772 wall connector for all types of electric vehicles comes ahead of its plans to open non-Tesla Superchargers across the US.
