JAKARTA - Riot Games, the development studio and well-known video game publisher League of Legends announced that it has completed its acquisition of Wargaming Sydney on Monday, 17 October.

The completion of this acquisition will see Wargaming Sydney renamed Riot Sydney, and will be a global development studio with experience creating next generation game development tools and servers.

Riot Sydney is expected to deliver the world's leading and hit games, with several R&D projects and prototypes for new game features, add-ons and consoles.

“We are very excited to bring this talented developer and team to Riot,” said Marc Merrill, Co-Founder and President of Games in a statement on Riot Games' official website.

According to him, the workers with the Sydney team members are very confident, not only in the technology they have built over the years, but also in the people who have built it.

"Like Naz (Naresh Hirani, Head of Development, Riot Sydney), and the development team at the studio have a long history of working in ways that will complement Riot's ability to deliver value to our players and we look forward to collaborating with them."

The newly founded Riot Sydney will use their expertise to further enhance its games League of Legends, VALORANT and the tech team at Riot.

With this acquisition, Riot hopes to expand the game industry in Australia as well as explore opportunities to add expert talent to other well-known gaming veterans' studios.

The company says that this acquisition has been going on for 10 years, when Bigworld decided to join Wargaming and help the studio create some of the world's most popular games.

Finally, the entire studio development staff will join Riot Sydney, while the existing publishing team will remain a part of Wargaming.
