JAKARTA - Twitter is now joining social media that imitates one element of TikTok's short video, a more immersive video player. This makes it easier for users to find video content on the platform.

The company is also seen copying the now-familiar swipe-up gesture and making it easier for people to scroll through more videos non-stop on Twitter.

This update will make users watching videos on Twitter feel more like browsing TikTok or Instagram Reels, at least in terms of the user interface.

"We want to make it easy for everyone to use our services in a way that best suits their needs, and video is an important part of that," Twitter said in a statement.

It is known that Twitter has long been promoting videos, especially live videos in various parts of its app, although it doesn't completely copy TikTok like Instagram, this is definitely a big change so far, videos are mostly part of tweets.

On top of that, the micro-blogging platform says they want to make Twitter the best place for videos. Quoted from The Verge, although TikTok is still a big problem, other social media companies have not always succeeded in emulating it, such as YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels.

The company says the immersive media viewer will start rolling out on the Twitter iOS app over the next few days and videos in the Explore tab are currently available to people in select countries using iOS or Android.

The update will come to users who use the app in English first.
