Parler Buys Cloud Service For Social Media Business Expansion

JAKARTA - Parler, a popular social media app among US conservatives, announced on Friday, September 16 that it had purchased a cloud service provider. They are also restructuring their business to focus on customers who are at risk of being knocked out of the internet.

As part of the reshuffle, Parler said it had created a new holding company, Parliament Technologies Inc. The new company has completed a $16 million fundraising round, with a total funding of $56 million to date.

The company, which became uncertain after last year's US Capitol riots, did not disclose financial details of the purchase and the names of investors who took part in their investment.

The deal for California-based Dynascale gives Parler access to a cloud service provider with approximately 50,000 square feet of data center space in the United States.

Parler launched in 2018 and is setting itself up as a free speech space for those seeking an alternative to platforms like Twitter Inc. The platform quickly gained traction from supporters of former US President Donald Trump.

Parler returned earlier this month to Google's app store more than a year and a half after the Alphabet-owned company removed it following the US Capitol riots. Parler was removed from the app store because it was deemed to have tolerated hate speech that sparked the riots.
