JAKARTA - US defense contractor Northrop Grumman Corp announced Monday July 18 that it has won a contract to build and deploy a constellation of low-Earth orbit satellites for 14 satellites from the US Space Development Agency.
The satellite is part of the agency's plans to establish the Tranche 1 Tracking Layer to detect, identify and track hypersonic weapons and other advanced missiles from the initial stages of launch to interception.
The agency said the Northrop contract had a potential value of around $617 million (IDR 9.2 trillion).

The space agency also awarded a similar contract to L3Harris Technologies Inc (LHX.N), with a potential value of around 700 million US dollars (IDR 10.4 trillion). Satellite launches are expected to begin in April 2025.
