JAKARTA - Often we have to pay more attention to the clarity of facts before quoting from Wikipedia sources. Because as many people already know, Wikipedia allows other people to edit the article.

To prevent malicious intent from editing, Meta is developing the first Artificial Intelligence (AI) capable of automatically verifying hundreds of thousands of citations to make Wikipedia entries more accurate.

Previously, it should be noted that Wikimedia and Meta are not partners on this project. This project is still in the research stage and is not being used to automatically update any content on Wikipedia.

According to Tech FB, this automated tool can help identify nonsense or inaccurate quotes. The tool can also suggest alternative citations when it finds a poorly sourced section.

Meta's Sphere database, consisting of more than 134 million web pages will act as the system's knowledge index. Ultimately, the goal is to build a money platform that can help Wikipedia editors systematically find citation problems and quickly correct citations or improve the content of related articles on a large scale.

“This is a great example of a machine learning tool that can help scale volunteer work by efficiently recommending accurate citations and sources,” said Shani Evenstein Sigalov, lecturer and researcher at Tel Aviv University, and Deputy Chair of the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees.

Furthermore, Sigalov looks forward to continuous improvement in this area, especially as machine learning tools are able to provide more customized citations and multilingual options to serve our Wikimedia community in over 300 languages.

The English, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, and French versions are automatically generated by the AI. So there may still be inaccuracies in translating, please always see Indonesian as our main language. (system supported by DigitalSiber.id)
