JAKARTA - Ubisoft has completely changed the name of the free-to-play shooter game XDefiant Tom Clancy to simply “XDefiant”. That's due, according to Ubisoft, to the fact that the game will include "factions from games outside of Tom Clancy's Metaverse"
"With this change, the game will now be known as XDefiant," said Ubisoft, quoted from Game Radar, March 18.
While previously announced factions from games like Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, and The Division will still be included, XDefiant won't be exclusively featuring Tom Clancy's adjacent group from other Ubisoft titles.
XDefiant has also received a new logo. Gone is the punk-rock, graffiti-heavy logo and promotional material from the 2021 game announcement, replaced by a new logo that's easier to describe as slick and modern.

The game rebranding that comes with Ubisoft's announcement is an "Insider Session" for players from the general public to participate in testing sessions with developers. The test will start with a small number of players on PC and eventually expand to other platforms and more participants.
Also cited from GameSpot, Ubisoft said it had learned a lot from the previous closed testing period last year. Those who have previously signed up for the XDefiant test will not need to register again and will automatically be in the pool of potential players for the upcoming Insider Session.
Even though XDefiant is no longer an officially "Tom Clancy" game, Ubisoft still has other free Tom Clancy shooter games to play namely Ghost Recon Frontline and The Division Heartland.
