Not 2027, The Electric Version Of Jeep Wrangler And Grand Cherokee Will Be Present In 2028

JAKARTA - The wave of changes to electric cars is accelerating, encouraging various automotive manufacturers to continue to introduce new innovations. Recently, Jeep is preparing to present an electric version of its flagship line, Wrangler and Grand Cherokee.

Reported by VOI in May, manufacturers could only provide a glimpse of Wrangler EVs that had not been launched until 2027, and the latest news was quoted from the ArenaEV website, Tuesday, November 7, the news of the electric presence of these two models refers to the preliminary work agreement between Jeep, its parent company Stellantis, and the automotive union (UAW).

In the agreement document, several plans for the company's future production were revealed. The plan, Wrangler and Grand Cherokee models will completely switch to electric power.

Based on the document, Wrangler EV is planned to make its debut in 2028, while the Grand Cherokee EV is scheduled to arrive a year earlier.

In more detail, Jeep Wrangler will be produced at the Toledo Assembly Complex, while Grand Cherokee will be produced at the Detroit Assembly Complex.

In addition, Jeep is also planning to launch a new fully electric Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer based on the STLA Frame platform by 2027. This suggests that all models will use advanced new platforms.

For additional information, Stellantis has allocated an investment of US$19 billion until April 2028 to set up a new battery factory, improve production facilities, provide training on electric vehicles, and develop a fully new electric vehicle model, in order to follow the transition to a future dominated by electric cars. Of these, around US$9.4 billion will be allocated for the construction of three new battery factories.
