JAKARTA - The Hyundai World Skill Olympics (WSO) 2023 competition officially ended, there was encouraging news from the competition that took place at the Hyundai Cheonan Global Learning Center and Seoul Novotel Yongsan Hotel, South Korea, on 23-27 October.

The 14th competition that VOI had previously reported, named Haydar Ali, an Indonesian mechanical from Hyundai Arista Margonda as Grand Champion.

This event involved 138 participants including 75 technicians and 63 supervisors from 56 countries. With the victory achieved by Haydar, it proves that Indonesia is able to produce reliable mechanics and technicians.

"Kemenangan Haydar merupakan bukti bahwa pembinaan yang konsisten adalah kunci dari kesuksesan dan dasar untuk memberikan layanan terbaik," kata Christoporis Ronny Ng, selaku Direktur Hyundai Arista Group, dalam keterangannya yang diterima VOI, Senin, 30 Oktober.

This achievement is very proud. Previously, Haydar Ali succeeded in representing Hyundai Motor Indonesia after successfully entering the top three selection stages in the competition, where he would show his mechanical skills. This competition assesses participants based on special criteria, including EV diagnosis capabilities from the security system, charging system, and HV Powertrain, as well as body electricity, chassis, and HV battery system.

For four days, Haydar and other participants who participated in the race were divided into three separate groups based on their expertise, namely internal combustion engine vehicles, electric vehicles and commercial vehicles, as well as undergoing written and practical tests. However, unlike the previous WSO, this year Hyundai Motor as the organizer introduced a test conducted in a virtual reality (VR) so that in the future it can utilize VR technology in technician Education and its evaluation platform.

He and other participants also had the opportunity to visit tourist attractions such as the Gyeongbokgung Palace, as well as visit Hyundai-owned facilities in South Korea, such as Hyundai Motorstudio Goyang, Hyundai Motor Asan Factory, and Gwangyang Steelworks owned by Hyundai Steel Company.

As one of 1,500 local mechanics working at the Arista Group, Haydar Ali has started his career as a mechanical player since July 2021. He has made brilliant achievements in various competitions, including winning third place in the Service Advisor and Technician category at the Hyundai National Service Skill Contest 2022.

Haydar will also participate in the Hyundai National Service Skill Contest 2023 in the EV category. Haydar preparation is not short, including a series of intensive trainings that start from June to October 6, 2023. As part of the preparations, Haydar attended three training camp sessions that focused on EV vehicles, including voltages, charging systems, power conversion, and GDS, as well as EV specializations.
