JAKARTA - Peter Jackson directed his first music video, creating a visual accompaniment for the long-awaited "last" song The Beatles.

The song, which was eagerly awaited, titled Now And Then, was created after the two surviving members, Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney, rejoined to make a song featuring the four members of The Fab Four.

The song was created using a previously recorded demonstration by John Lennon, saved with the help of AI (artificial intelligence) technology, and is scheduled to be released globally at 14.00 GMT on Thursday, November 2.

Now, it is certain that the new song will come with official music videos, directed by Peter Jackson and consists of archive footage of The Fab Four.

Created with Apple Corps Ltd., Capitol, and UMe, the project will mark the first music video the filmmaker worked on, and continue his work in the 2021 documentary series about the band, entitled The Beatles: Get Back.

"When Apple asked me to make a music video, I was very reluctant to I thought the next few months would be much more fun if that complicated task became someone else's problem, and I could be like other Beatles fans, enjoy the eve before Christmas as Beatles' new song and music video releases get closer," he said in a press release, explaining how the project emerged.

"To be honest, thinking about the responsibility to make music videos that match the Beatles' last ever released song resulted in a collection of nearly as great anxiety to face," he added, saying he then took advantage of the members' relevant record shortages as an excuse to try and avoid the project.

The Beatles music video must have good footage of the Beatles in essence. No way the Beatles actor or CGI is used. Every shooting of The Beatles must be original," he added.

This concern was quickly resolved, Jackson said, confirming that the music video would combine new footage from McCartney and Starr, as well as 14-hour footage newly found from band members in 1995.

I found myself caught up when they quickly addressed my worries. Paul and Ringo recorded their performances and sent them to me. Apple found more than 14 hours of taking pictures that had long been forgotten during the 1995 recording session, including a few hours Paul, George and Ringo worked on Now And Then, and gave me all that," he said.

Sean [Lennon, John's son] and Olivia [Harrison, George's wife] found some footage of home films that had never been seen before and delivered them. In closing, several seconds are valuable from the appearance of The Beatles in their leather suit, the earliest known and unprecedented Beatles film, prepared well by Pete Best.
