Lack Of Evidence, Prosecutor Cancels Investigation Of Rammstein Vocalist’s Alleged Sexual Harassment

JAKARTA - Prosecutors dropped their investigation into frontman Rammstein, Till Lindemann, following allegations of sexual harassment.

The investigation was reopened in June after several women came forward, claiming that the vocalist drugged them and recruited them for sexual activity.

Lindemann has previously denied the allegations and his lawyers added that the claims are "without exception untrue".

As The Washington Post reported, the Berlin prosecutor's office issued a statement on Tuesday, August 29 which read: “The evaluation of the available evidence – in particular the press reports referring to the anonymous complainant, as well as additional examinations of witnesses – has not yielded any indication that the accused has engage in sexual acts against women against their will, use disabling substances or exploit the imbalance of power against underage sexual partners to persuade them to have sex.”

In a statement, Lindemann's lawyers said they would "take immediate legal action in response to all of the allegations".

The allegations against Lindemann first surfaced in May, when a 24-year-old girl named Shelby Lynn claimed that a "casting director" invited her to sit in the "zero row" section of a Rammstein show in Vilnius, Lithuania.

Documented on social media, he claims that someone brought him under the stage and Lindemann then approached him. Lynn also said that she turned down Lindemann's advances and the singer reacted angrily. Lynn also confirmed that she did not accuse the frontman of rape.

“I want to clarify again. Until it does NOT touch me, he wrote on Twitter. “He accepted I didn't want to have sex with him. I never claimed he raped me."

Lynn also alleged that she felt like she had been drugged at the pre-show party, but it was later reported that a urine test showed no signs of poisoning. Following the allegations, Rammstein has denied wrongdoing.

Following Lynn's accusations coming to light, another woman also made a similar claim – alleging that they were overly approached by the "casting director" who wanted to arrange a meeting with Lindemann.

Universal Music halted all marketing and promotion of Rammstein amidst the investigation. According to The New York Times, the label said: "The allegations against Till Lindemann have shocked us and we have so much respect for the women who have spoken out so publicly in this case."

Since the allegations came to light, publisher Kiepenheuer & Witsch – which published Lindemann's book of poetry in 2020 – cut off any ties with the musician following the accusations and the explicit video that has resurfaced.

"From our perspective, Till Lindemann crossed irreversible boundaries in his dealings with women," the statement read. "Therefore, we have decided to end our collaboration with Till Lindemann immediately, as our relationship of trust with the author has been severed."
