After Being Left Behind By Craig Jones, Slipknot Releases EP Surprise Adderall

JAKARTA - Slipknot's masked metal unit, while surprisingly releasing a new EP (mini album) entitled Adderall.

This is an alternative version of six songs (without intro, rough demonstrations, and instrumental) which originally appeared on the album The End, So Far (2022) with the independent single Bone Church (2023), as well as non-album songs; Death March, Red Or Redder, and Hard To Be Here.

Not only that, they also released video clips for Memories (Adderall Rough Demo) and Death March. Both were directed by founding member Slipknot, percusionist and visual mastermind M. Shawn "Clown" Crahan.

"Deconstructing to continue to pave the way for evolution," said Crahan in Slipknot's official statement. "At this point in the program nothing is safe."

Last year, Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor told Rolling Stone about his inspiration for EP Adderall. He said everyone compared it to Radiohead even though he didn't feel like that.

"Well, I didn't listen to Radiohead, so it's interesting," Corey said. "For me, I'm a bit leaning towards David Gahah. I'm a big fan of Depeche Mode. I'm the only one who feels like that, but I also don't mind the Radiohead comparison earlier," explained Corey.

Meanwhile, on June 7 yesterday, Slipknot announced their separation from longtime keyboardist Craig Jones. However, posts announcing Craig's exit from the band were quickly removed and photos of new members were uploaded.

The same unknown person apparently appeared on stage behind the keyboard during Slipknot's appearance at the Austrian Nova Rock festival.

During the concert, Slipknot played two songs The Blister Exists and Palace for the first time in eight years. They also performed Liberate for the first time since 2016 and Yen, a song from the album The End, So Far played for the first time.

So far, Slipknot has not revealed the reason for Jones' departure.

Jones joined Slipknot in early 1996, shortly after the band finished recording the demo album Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat.

Initially, Jones was recruited to replace kolotus, one of two original guitarists of Slipknot, although he quickly switched to keyboardist position and sampling executor.
