BMW Prepares a High-Performance Wagon That Competes with the Audi RS6 Avant

JAKARTA - After successfully launching the 5 Series and i5 at the end of May, BMW intends to expand the range of these vehicles by providing the latest variants. It was revealed by the manufacturer that the model will arrive in the near future.

Reporting from the official BMW Group website, Wednesday, October 18, the manufacturer gave a signal regarding the appearance of the latest 5 Series model. Unlike the sedan version, this model will be available in wagon form.

In this image published by the Bavarian manufacturer, the car, which will be called the 5 Series Touring, will have a long roof typical of European wagons. This car is shown in silhouette with elegantly lit front and rear lights.

Built on the CLAR platform, which means most of these vehicles do not have significant changes to other types. To make it look sportier, the wagon will be equipped with wider fenders, four exhausts, and a grill developed by the M division.

Although the inside has not been shown, the 5 Series will likely have a similar cabin design as the other types. The interior will be equipped with a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment screen. There may also be improvements to the seat cushions and revised trim to provide a sportier touch.

Even though it has a long hood, it is estimated that this car will not have a V8 engine. Later, the 5 Series Touring will be equipped with 48V mild-hybrid technology with the same drive system as the XM model combined with a 4.4 liter twin-turbo engine, making it heavier.

In addition to the mild-hybrid variant, the latest generation 5 Series Touring will be available with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system and for the first time as an electric vehicle (EV) under the name i5 Touring. This car will be launched globally in February 2024.

The BMW 5 Series Touring will compete with the Audi RS6 Avant as the latest high-performance wagon from Germany. The RS6 Avant model has a more aggressive body design than before which supports its performance needs.
