Dwi Sasono's Family Faces Threats Through Budi Pekerti's First Teaser Film

JAKARTA - Rekata Studio launched the first teaser for the film Budi Pekerti ahead of its premiere at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) which will be held on 7-17 September 2023.

This teaser features the main plot of the story directed by Wregas Bhanuteja. The teaser starts with Tita (Prilly Latuconsina) and Mrs. Prani (Sha Ine Pebriyanti) who tries to record videos assisted by Muklas (Angga Yunanda).

Then, Mrs. Prani, who initially bought putu, went viral and made Mrs. Prani's integrity as a BK teacher questionable. The attitude of the school, which seemed to turn her back on Mrs. Prani, made her trapped in an unwanted situation.

Unexpectedly, the incident actually had a big impact on their family. Tita, who also has her own world, also feels the same way. Now they are trying to survive taking care of their father while fighting the bullying.

Set in Yogyakarta during the pandemic, the film Budi Pekerti tells the story of Mrs. Prani (Sha Ine Febriyanti), a BK teacher whose video of a dispute with market visitors has gone viral on social media.

His actions were deemed not to reflect the personality of a teacher, so that he and his family were bullied, looking for other mistakes, and threatened with losing their jobs. They try to fight bullying while keeping Pak Didit (Dwi Sasono) who is depressed.

This full one-minute teaser will present a phenomenon that occurs in society as well as become a new color in Indonesian cinema.

In its premiere, the film Budi Pekerti, which has the international title Andragoggy, will be included in the Discovery Toronto International Film Festival 2023 program, a program that specializes in introducing and appreciating the first or second works of well-known visionary directors, such as Christopher Nolan, Yoorgos Lanthimos, Marijualatur, Joachim Trier, and David Gordon Green.

"I am very proud and honored to be able to celebrate the birth of Budi Pekerti's film at TIFF. I hope that this film can get good reception from viewers at TIFF and Indonesia is increasingly recognized in the international film industry," said Sha Ine Febriyanti.

"Many people are waiting for Budi Pekerti, so hopefully with the release of this teaser trailer, it can provide a little picture of Mrs. Prani's journey trying to get out of the crisis she is experiencing due to bullying on social media that threatens the lives of her and her family," said Ridla An-Nuur, producer of the film Budi Pekerti.

The film Budi Pekerti is planned to be shown in Indonesian cinemas after the premiere on TIFF.
