Exclusive Mawar De Jongh Departs From The Beauty Contest To Become A Multitalented Artist

JAKARTA - Mawar de Jongh is back on the big screen through the latest teen drama film entitled Galaxies. He plays the role of Kejora, a member of the school Paskibraka team who manages to make the main character in the film, the Galaxy falls in love.

Trying to portray Kejora's character, Mawar de Jongh sees her role this time as an ambitious, disciplined, diligent high school student and knows what she wants.

Even though she graduated from high school a few years ago, Mawar, who will celebrate her 22nd birthday on September 26, still gets the trust of playing a student. However, she considers Kejora's role this time not easy.

"The difficulty is how to deal with the events experienced by Kejora with Kejora glasses and not Mawar's glasses," said Mawar de Jongh when met by VOI in Antasari, South Jakarta recently.

"Maybe Mawar saw it 'Are you sure you're dealing with it like this?' But I have to remember that Kejora is still in high school, he's still 16 years old, and yes definitely with a different background from me, he has different thoughts with me too," he continued.

Luckily, Mawar met an easy team to discuss. Several times he exchanged ideas with the director, Bryan Domani, who plays the Galaxy and other actors, about how he should play the Kejor.

Returning to acting in a school atmosphere, Mawar feels reminiscent about her high school days. He saw several similarities in scenes with what he experienced at school.

"Some of the scenes in this film I saw when I wanted to go to high school, for example when I had a birthday friend and his friends were excited about the work, there were also buying snacks in front of the school. Yes, there were also many incidents that reminded me when I was in high school," said Mawar de Jongh.

Several characters in the film also met him at school. According to him, there are also several children who have similar experiences with the Galaxy who may have made the wrong decision in their search for their identity.

"Yes, some of them, maybe those I didn't meet in high school but in junior high school, there were some of my friends who looked like their characters rich in galaxies, but I don't know if the story is full whether he's like a galaxy or not. Maybe what I see is the same character as a galaxy exists, or some other Ravispa members seem to exist, similar," he said.

Mawar was also required to take action scenes, when Kejora and Galaxies were chased by Robert and members of Avegar. Trying to remember the shooting process that took place around April, Mawar said the scene was quite tiring.

There is a scene where we are running away from Robert, there we are chasing and running fast. There we run about four floors and just training I really don't feel well, because I'm tired and it's shooting really early in the morning. That's probably the difficulty I faced during the scene," said Mawar de Jongh.

Through this film, Mawar saw the story experienced by the Galaxy reminding everyone not to judge someone as limited to their appearance. He sees everyone has their own story.

If this film gives a message to the audience later not to judge people based on their appearance. We don't know people completely because of their appearance, we never know the story and we never know what they experienced before," he said.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy is Mawar's fifth film released in 2023. Uniquely, each film offers something different and of course the actress also plays a different character.

"Praise God, this year I was entrusted with several characters with various genres, the regent was very happy to be able to play in thriller, horror, given the trust to be able to play various genres, of course he was very happy," said Mawar de Jongh.

"Because I love the world of acting too, I also want to feel how it feels to play in other genres," he continued.

Mawar admits that she wants to try various genres as much as possible with different characters. In the 7th year since the debut of a big screen film, she wants to continue to develop as a young actress. It is said that unique stories and characters are the reason when choosing a film project

"The first time we got it was when we were offered to play the film was a synopsis, so that's what we read and considered first. Then also the story and character, what will this be, how will we get treatment when filming," said Mawar.

"But the first one is of course the story and character, then maybe then ask again who the team is involved in," he continued.

However, there is one genre that Mawar has never tried. He wants to play in a comedy film, and also return to play in a biopic.

"If there are so many genres, I really want to try comedy now, because I've never received a comedy film. Then I really want to play biopics again, I think it will be very fun," he said.

Regarding the role of high school students who have so far been quite attached to him, Mawar does not know how long he will accept the offer to play a student. He hopes to get as long as possible the offer.

"I think if I can accept the role of high school depending on the look, I'm afraid it won't match in terms of visuals, because the character will also affect it," said Mawar.

Seeing Mawar de Jongh's career in the world of acting so far, beauty pageants have their own role. She once participated in the 2015 Miss Celebrity Indonesia event and was lined up as a winner.

Through the beauty pageant event, Mawar Eva felt that her dream of becoming an actress and entertainment was wider open. He began to get to know several people in the Indonesian entertainment industry after becoming champions in the event.

Miss Celebrity is arguably a forum and an opening for me, finally I can take part in casting. I can get to know some casting people in several production houses as well because it was opened with Miss Celebrity. And until now I am very grateful at that time I auditioned in Medan," said Mawar de Jongh.

The beauty pageant event is also a comeback for Mawar de Jongh to the Indonesian entertainment industry. Previously he had played in an FTV as a child actress, but had to stop for a while and return to his hometown in Medan.

"Because I'm a really excited child, right, so there was a moment when I was sick during the FTV shooting, and I still wanted to continue. Finally, Mama decided to take me to Medan again, and I continued the school," said Mawar.

"I remained at the studio at that time, still doing what I liked. Then I stopped at the studio for a while and then again at junior high school, then after that I auditioned for Miss Celebrity. Praise God passed and went to Jakarta again," he continued.

Mawar doesn't really know what actually made her decide to be in the world of acting after winning a beauty pageant. What can be ascertained is that there is something acting that she wants to do continuously.

"Yes, maybe when I was little I didn't remember what I felt at that time, but back again playing FTV and soap operas, then films, I found love in this field, like this is something I want to do again and again," he said.

Not only acting, the beauty pageant event is also a way for Mawar de Jongh's little dream to become a singer. He admitted that he had liked to be on stage since childhood.

"So, when I was in elementary school, I was a really happy child to perform. In the past, Mama had a cafe and I didn't sing enough there, because I was very happy singing on stage," said Mawar.

"Indeed, every time I watched television and saw a music show, I wanted to be there one day. And when I joined Miss Celebrity, Praise God I opened the way to meet my current label, we had a vocal test on several labels, finally got the opportunity and asked how serious I was," he continued.

Besides being busy in acting, Mawar is grateful to have the opportunity to sing. He said he was happy to meet his idols since childhood.

"Of course I'm very grateful, until now I still can't believe that if I can sing on stage, I can meet my idols who I used to only be able to watch on television," he said.

In the future, Mawar de Jongh wants to continue to hone himself as a entertainer. He believes he can continue to do what he has done so far, even to get better.

"Until now, I still don't think I can get to this point," concluded Mawar de Jongh.
