Duration Of Childbirth Leave In Indonesia

According to Article 81 paragraph (2) of Law Number 13 of 2003 concerning Manpower, female workers or laborers have the right to rest for 1.5 months before the time for giving birth, and 1.5 months after giving birth.

This means that the working mother is entitled to 3 months of maternity leave. Although the duration is quite short, the law explains that the maternity leave period can be extended if it includes a certificate from an obstetrician or midwife, either before or after giving birth.

Meanwhile, while on leave, female workers are also entitled to full wages, referring to Article 84 of Law Number 13/2003.
