Electric Motor Conversion Incentives Increase To IDR 10 Million Per Unit

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has increased the amount of incentives for converting electric motors to IDR 10 million per unit.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif said this policy had been implemented and was expected to boost people's wishes in the conversion program of electric motorcycles.

"Yes, it has been decided Rp10 million for the conversion motorbike," said Arifin when met by media crews at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Friday, November 10.

Arifin explained that the increase in the value of this incentive was intended so that there was a difference between the purchase of a new motorbike and a motorbike that was converted from fuel oil (BBM) to electricity.

So that more and more people are interested in converting to certified workshops.

"Now the new motorbike and used motorbike must be different," added Arifin.

This policy follows the revision of the previous regulation which stipulates 1 NIK 1 electric motor

In addition to increasing the value of incentives, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources also carries out other strategies by widening the reach of converting motorbike recipients to no longer individuals but will begin to spread to agencies.

For this reason, he said, his ministry began to approach state-owned enterprises (BUMN) and private companies.

He hopes through an approach to the companies, the conversion bike target is close to 50,000 units by the end of the year.

"We have an allocation of 50,000, we hope that at least it will be close to that figure by the end of the year," added Arifin.

In addition to aggressively promoting to the private sector, Arifin continued, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources also continues to provide guidance to workshops so that they immediately meet the qualifications for motor conversion.

"Our agenda must develop our workshops so that they have qualifications. Apart from licensing problems, then the mechanism can be accelerated," he said.
