Legislator: Through Technology Innovation, PHE Is Expected To Be More Environmentally Friendly

JAKARTA - Member of Commission VII DPR RI, Abdul Kadir Karding, positively considered the award of four awards at Taiwan Innotech EXPO to PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) as Pertamina's Upstream Sub Holding. According to Karding, the award is an acknowledgment that PHE is capable of implementing innovative technology, which not only increases production but is also more environmentally friendly.

"Of course proud, because the award is an achievement and international recognition to PHE. In this case, PHE not only shows a role in maintaining energy resilience, but also the ability to implement innovative, greener technology," Karding told the media today, Friday, October 27.

As a member of Commission VII, Karding hopes that various PHE technological innovations will be more environmentally friendly. This is important, including in pursuing the Net Zero Emission (NZE) target by 2060.

"I did hear that currently PHE has implemented technology that is able to reduce carbon emissions. For that, we at Commission VII will encourage PHE to continue to increase its role as a _green industry_. We will monitor it," he said.

Through greener technological innovation, explained Karding, PHE will be able to compete with its competitors, both regionally and internationally. Moreover, because in the future, one of the competitive indicators, is the implementation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) in various industries.

"Including the oil and gas industry, of course, through the implementation of green technology innovation," he said.

Not only more environmentally friendly. Karding also hopes that various technological innovations will make PHE more efficient. Thus, the benefits obtained will also be higher.

"And in turn, the contribution to state revenues also continues to increase," he said.

Previously, PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) as Pertamina's Upstream Subholding, did win the Taiwan Innotech Expo (TIE) 2023 award, which was held on October 12-14, 2023 at Taiwan World Trade Center, Taipei. Taiwan Innotech Expo 2023 is one of the innovation exhibitions in Asia.

The activity was attended by more than 600 participants from 23 countries. The event aims to showcase innovative technological capabilities, create international business opportunities, and encourage industrial transformation.
