Inaugurating GBK IMS Today, Jokowi: I'm Sure Many Are Used For Concerts

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated the Indonesia Arena or the Indoor Multifunction Stadium (IMS) in the Gelora Bung Karno area, Jakarta, today.

Jokowi said that the multifunctional stage could not only be used for sports tournaments, but could be used as a place for music concerts.

"Indonesia, this arena can mainly be used for basketball tournaments, but it can also be used for badminton, volleyball, futsal, and also of course for concerts," said Jokowi in Jakarta, on Monday, August 7.

He is very confident that in the future, IMS will be used more for concerts. According to the number one person in Indonesia, apart from having a capacity of more than 16,000 spectators, it is also equipped with facilities that support concert activities.

"Today, we already have a Indonesia Arena, a stadium with a capacity of approximately 16,000 spectators," said Jokowi.

"So, now if you want a concert, please register, because I'm sure this will be used more for concerts," he added.

On this occasion, Jokowi even expressed his love for concert activities, thus supporting this.

"I'm very happy (IMS) is used for sports, but concerts are also important because I'm happy," he said.

In line with President Jokowi, the Minister of PUPR said that IMS could indeed be used for concert activities.

However, further repair of the sound system or sound system is needed.

"I think there is still something missing about the sound system, like Ms. Kikan (Vokalis Band Chocolate) earlier, right, the sound didn't come out," he said.

Even so, he ensured that other facilities were good and ready to be used as a tournament venue or music concert activities.

"If the others are okay, it's optimal. If I think it's optimal. So, if there are fewer, there will be maintenance for six months," he added.

For your information, the IMS is located in Block 10 with an area of 30,270 square meters belonging to the Ministry of State Secretariat under the management of PPK-GBK in the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area, Senayan, Jakarta.

The building itself covers 50,398 m2 and has a spectator capacity of 16,523 people.
