PLN Restores The Electricity System After The Yogyakarta Earthquake

PT PLN (Persero) has succeeded in restoring the electricity system of residents affected after the 6.6 magnitude earthquake with the Bantul epicenter, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY).

Not only did it have an impact on electricity, but the earthquake also damaged 263 buildings. Of these, 3 houses were categorized as moderately damaged and 5 houses were moderately damaged.

PLN through the PLN Peduli Social and Environmental Responsibility Program (TJSL) and the Baitul Maal Foundation (YBM) provided assistance in the form of renovations for eight houses and 250 basic food packages for affected residents.

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo explained that PLN's first priority is to secure electricity assets so as not to endanger residents. Then the officers will quickly normalize the electricity network and help in the form of house renovations and food packages.

"Currently, our focus is on securing electricity networks to maintain the safety of residents. We are also synergizing with the DIY Provincial Government, TNI-Polri and related stakeholders to provide assistance to residents affected by the disaster," said Darmawan, quoted Monday, July 3.

General Manager of PLN Central Java and DI Yogyakarta Distribution Main Units, Mochamad Soffin Hadi said, for severe electrical disturbances only occurred in the Kebumen area, then the Bantul Regency area had no massive disruption from the electricity side of the Medium Voltage Network (JTM), but indeed many residents suffered damage to their houses.

"The PLN officers quickly normalized the electricity network and distributed aid in the form of house renovations and food packages," said Soffin.

Soffin added, thanks to the remote technology SCADA, the medium-voltage electricity network has returned to normal. He hopes aftershocks don't happen again.

"If there are still residents who experience electrical problems, please report via Contact Center 123 or through the PLN Mobile application on the complaint menu for disturbances. We hope that there won't be any aftershocks," concluded Soffin.
