The government through the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) continues to expand the scope of services provided to support increased industrial competitiveness.
One of them is cellulose-related services by the work unit under the Ministry of Industry which is currently not only focused on the pulp and paper industry.
It was stated that this initiation was driven by the Ministry of Industry's Standardization and Industrial Services Policy Agency (BSKJI) through the Selulosa Industrial Services and Standardization Center (BBSPJI Selulosa).
Head of the BSKJ Ministry of Industry, Doddy Rahardi, said that pulp and paper are conventional products from the cellulose processing industry.
"Besides that, products such as personal maintenance equipment, vehicle spare parts, medicines, construction materials, and electronics also consist of cellulose and its derivatives," he said, quoted on Sunday, July 2.
According to Doddy, there are still many industrial basic ingredients that have the potential to be developed in the future that are in line with environmental principles.

"Selulosa is also considered a future sustainable plastic because it is its nature that forms biocomposite with thermoplastics," he said.
Doddy emphasized that the government encourages the use of composites to create strong but sustainable products.
"Currently in fabrication technology, recycling, and expanding opportunities for the use of end products, it has provided a boost to the cellulose industry market," he said.
Doddy added, in the coming years the cellulose application will increase with the final user industry that can substitute petroleum-based products to sustainable sources for raw materials or known as biorefinery.
These products are able to minimize waste, optimize raw materials, and maximize the benefits of biomass itself," he concluded.
