The Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) explained the implementation of the World Superbike (WSBK) motorcycle racing event at the Mandalika Circuit, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) which is called a loss. "So, if there is a loss, it's natural, the name is also everywhere, the first promotion is a loss. Where there are people who immediately sell profit. If all the direct sales are profitable, all are happy and all will enter the business and it's not a matter of loss, this is about assignment," said Special Staff (Stafsus) III Minister of SOEs Arya Sinulingga at the Ngobrol Morning Seputar BUMN (Ngopi BUMN) event at the Ministry of SOEs Building, Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, June 22. Arya explained that the Mandalika area was not only for the construction of the circuit, but also for all its facilities and infrastructure. He said the construction of the Mandalika area was Indonesia's effort to revive tourism at that time. "We used to be corona, we have been vaccinated now, we are excited. Indonesia wants to show that we are rising first than other countries and there is tourism. Tourism is the industrial sector that was hardest hit during corona and at that time there was a moment called WSBK in 2021. the end, "said Arya. Furthermore, he said that during the COVID-19 pandemic, no investors entered to build infrastructure in Mandalika so that SOEs were working on it. "Imagine, we are just corona, just vaccinating, suddenly we make a WSBK. That means that SOEs enter an area where people don't dare to enter, so why move the economy. There are facilities that investors should enter but because the corona investors don't want to enter, they're not ready. So who enters, SOEs enter, build infrastructure that should be built by investors. So, this is a framework to encourage tourism," he said. For this reason, said Arya, the WSBK event which was first held at the end of 2021 is also a driving force to increase tourism. "At that time everyone saw how good Indonesia turned out and ready for tourism and our driver was WSBK, the first at that time," said Arya. Meanwhile, NTB Governor Zulkieflimansyah wants the management of the Mandalika Circuit to be taken by the provincial government (Pemprov). This is in response to InJourney's plan to remove the event because it has to lose Rp100 billion.
