Pursuit Target 2 Million Tons Of Shrimp Production In 2024, Here's Minister Trenggono's Strategy

KEBUMEN - Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono said that his party was focused on achieving the set target, one of which was the achievement of shrimp production of 2 million tons in 2024. "I want to pursue the target given by the government. When I was appointed as Minister of the KP, there was one target in 2024 to achieve two million tons of national shrimp production," Trenggono said as quoted by Antara, Tuesday.

In order to achieve this target, Trenggono continued, one of the efforts made was through a BUBK shrimp pond pilot project that can be imitated and applied by business actors, including the general public.

Trenggono explained that the requirements for shrimp ponds to produce properly include far from community settlements and having clean water quality.

"First, close to the community is a condition that must be avoided. Because with many people approaching the cultivation area, it is very vulnerable to the presence of viruses, bacteria. Good power is in a place that is truly free from pollution," he said.

Kebumen sebagai lokasi pond berdasarkan audit yang dilakukan pihaknya telah memenuhi persyaratan tersebut di atas.

The BUBK pond, which is located on an area of 100 hectares, he said, already has a number of qualified facilities, including water intake, wastewater disposal installations (IPAL), water reservoirs, to checking the health of shrimp seeds or PCR and checking laboratories for water health conditions.

In terms of maintenance, shrimp is treated regularly and pay attention to it properly or intensively.

Trenggono hopes that this pilot project can run well, resulting in positive benefits for state revenues.

Meanwhile, Kebumen Regent Arif Sugiyanto said that the BUBK pond provides benefits for the surrounding community.

"With this BUBK, thank God, the people who work here have approximately 90 percent chosen to work at the BUBK. So the community is trained by the KKP through the Jepara Air Payau Cultivation Fisheries Center (BBPBAP). Have knowledge, then work here," he said.
