JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) explained to Commission IV of the House of Representatives the plan to use an additional budget of IDR 663.23 billion for 2023.

The budget will be used to accelerate economic recovery programs in the marine and fisheries sectors.

"The proposed plan for additional use of the KKP budget in 2023, amounting to IDR 663.23 billion, will be used to increase the allocation of government assistance to accelerate economic recovery", said KKP Secretary General Antam, Novambar, as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, September 7.

Antam said the additional budget would also be used to support facilities and infrastructure to increase fishery production and aquaculture production.

The additional budget is also used for the provision of a cold chain system to support food security, additional operational costs for resource supervisors, marine space management, capacity building for human resources, strengthening quality testing facilities, and strengthening internal control.

Furthermore, additional budgets are also proposed to realize the welfare of fishing communities, fish raisers, marketers, and other coastal communities.

"KKP is also committed to implementing government assistance programs in 2023, including development in eastern Indonesia to support the national fish barn (LIN)", he said.

Antam explained that in 2023, the KKP government assistance program amounted to IDR 490 billion, up 65.5 percent from the amount of government assistance in 2022 of IDR 296 billion.

"If our proposal can be approved, then we are ready to sign our commitment for implementation in 2023", he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Commission IV of the Indonesia House of Representatives, Sudin, said that his party in this RDP was only listening to the KKP's explanation.
