Mainly Canceling The Increase In Fuel Prices, 5,000 DPR Building Geruk Workers Tomorrow: Simultaneous Actions Taking Place In 34 Provinces

JAKARTA - The President of the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI) who is also the President of the Labor Party Said Iqbal emphasized that his party will hold a demonstration involving tens of thousands of workers. The action will be held simultaneously in 34 provinces, tomorrow.

"This action is organized by the Labor Party and labor union organizations, farmers, fishermen, honorary teachers, domestic workers, migrant workers, poor cities, and women's organizations in 34 provinces. Simultaneous action will be carried out at the governor's office", said Said Iqbal, in an official statement, Monday, September 5.

Iqbal said the purpose of this demonstration was to ask the governor to make a letter of recommendation to the President and the leadership of the DPR RI to cancel the increase in fuel oil prices (BBM).

Furthermore, Iqbal said specifically for the areas of Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) the action would be attended by 3,000 to 5,000 people centered at the DPR RI Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta.

"This action is to demand the formation of a Panja or Special Committee for fuel so that fuel prices are lowered", he said.

According to Iqbal, the action at the Indonesia House of Representatives (DPR RI) Building will take place from 10:00 WIB by carrying out three demands. First, reject the increase in fuel prices. Second, reject the omnibus law on the Job Creation Law.

"The third is demanding an increase in the UMK (Regency/City Minimum Wage) by 10 to 13 percent", he said.

For your information, the government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has officially adjusted the price of Pertalite and Solar Subsidy subsidized fuel types. For the new price, the government price priced Pertalite which was previously IDR 7,650 per liter to IDR 10,000 per liter. Solar subsidy which was previously IDR 5,150 per liter rose to IDR 6,800 per liter.

This price increase has been effective for an hour since it was announced that this price adjustment was at 14.30 WIB. This was conveyed by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif at a press conference with President Jokowi at the Merdeka Palace, yesterday, Saturday, September 3.
