JAKARTA - Director General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Dadan Kusdiana revealed that the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources encourages energy conservation efforts among industry to support the transition to more environmentally friendly energy use.

For this reason, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is encouraging the implementation of power wheeling, namely the joint use of the electric power network.

"The power wheeling scheme is a mechanism that can facilitate the transfer of electrical energy from renewable energy sources or non-PLN generators to the company's operating facilities by utilizing the transmission network owned and operated by PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN)," he said in Jakarta, Thursday, July 28.

The power wheeling scheme is expected to encourage the development of green industries through the provision of energy with initiatives from the industry itself.

He added that the power wheeling scheme will also be included in the draft of the New Renewable Energy (EBT) Bill, which is currently still being discussed by the government.

"One of them (entered) there (the EBT Bill), but actually in the Electricity Law it was opened, but it has not been implemented. We will see how this can work," said Dadan.

Dadan said the power wheeling scheme allows industry players to rent PLN transmissions to be able to supply electricity from the power plant they have built.

He said that now many entrepreneurs choose to build their own power plants even though PLN has also provided certified renewable energy.

The reason could be due to economic factors as well as to support the use of energy that is more environmentally friendly.

"But there are some entrepreneurs who want to build their own in other places. This is what we are trying to facilitate," he said.
