Although The Process Is Not As Easy As 'turning The Palm Of The Hand', Commission VII DPR Is Confident That The EBT Bill Will Be Published This Year

JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission VII DPR RI Sugeng Suparwoto is optimistic that the New Renewable Energy Bill (RUU EBT) will be ready in 2022. Sugeng said that currently the bill that encourages the use of renewable energy as a substitute for fossil energy has reached the stage of harmonization with the Legislation Body (Baleg) of the DPR RI.

However, he admitted that the process of ratifying this bill was not as easy as turning the palm of the hand.

"Harmonizing is also not easy, there are several laws that will be covered by the law, there is a weighing clause, a remembering clause and so on," said Sugeng after chairing a meeting of Commission VII DPR RI with the Danish Parliament at Nusantara III Building, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday March 8th.

The process of drafting the regulation on EBT is expected to continue at the trial which will be held after the DPR RI recess period is over. The agenda of the trial held by Commission VII of the DPR RI with the Legislative Body (Baleg) of the DPR RI will later be carried out to complete the harmonization of the bill.

He further said that from the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia, Commission VII of the DPR RI will ask the DPR RI Deliberative Body (Bamus) to schedule a Plenary Meeting to ratify the candidate for the regulation. Previously, Sugeng said that not only Commission VII and Baleg, the EBT Bill would also involve several institutions.

"The government will respond in the form of a Presidential Letter containing the institutions involved in the discussion, namely of course the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (Energy and Mineral Resources) as the leading sector, there is also the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Industry, and possibly the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
