JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism (Menpar) Widiyanti Putri Wardhana is optimistic that the achievement of the tourism sector in 2024 will not only exceed the performance of 2023, but also make a real contribution to President Prabowo Subianto's Asta Cita mission, especially in creating inclusive economic growth, equitable development, and preserving nature and culture.

"This is in accordance with the direction of developing the tourism sector based on Asta Cita Presiden Prabowo Subianto, which is to create new economic growth sources with the principle of development programs that lead to quality and sustainable tourism development," said Menpar Widiyanti in "End Press Week 2024", Friday (20/12/2024) at Balairung Soesilo Soedarman, Sapta Pesona Building, Jakarta.

A number of performance indicators in the tourism sector show positive growth throughout 2024. Among them are the contribution of tourism GDP in the first half of 2024 of 4.01 percent. This figure exceeds last year's contribution of 3.9 percent.

Meanwhile, for foreign tourist visits (tourists), the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that until October 2024 the number of foreign tourists had reached 11.6 million visits and it is believed that it will continue to grow until December 2024.

"The number of foreign tourist visits is even approaching the realization in 2023 of 11.7 million visits," said Menpar Widiyanti.

For domestic tourists (wisnus), the number of movements from January to October 2024 reached 839.4 million trips and is believed to grow until the end of the year. This figure is also approaching the realization of the Wissue movement in 2023 of 839.7 million trips.

"So we are optimistic that the 2024 achievement will exceed the realization in 2023. In 2024 the TTDI Indonesia ranking has also managed to increase by 10 points to rank 22 from 32. The acquisition of foreign exchange in the tourism sector until the third quarter of 2024 has reached 12.63 billion US dollars. Meanwhile, the number of tourism workers from the first semester was 24.5 million people," said Menpar Widiyanti.

Throughout 2024, Indonesian tourism has also made pride by winning 67 awards from 32 world tourism organizations. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy also won 7 awards given by a number of ministries/agencies.

Menpar Widiyanti on the same occasion also explained the realization of investment achieved by the parekraf sector, especially for the period January to September 2024. Namely USD 2.4 billion or equivalent to IDR 35.43 trillion consisting of foreign investment (PMA) and domestic investment.

"The PMA is dominated by Singaporean countries followed by Australia, India, Japan and France. The most popular business sectors include star hotels, restaurants, hotel apartments, bars, and game areas," said Widiyanti.

In 2025, the Ministry of Tourism is mandated to achieve several main targets. Namely, foreign tourist visits are targeted at 14.6 million to 16 million visits, domestic tourists as many as 1.08 billion movements, tourism contributions to GDP by 4.6 percent, tourism foreign exchange by 19-22.1 billion US dollars, and the number of tourism workers by 25.8 million people.

"These achievements are a motivation for us to continue to provide the best service. 2025 is understood as an important momentum to build a quality tourism foundation, an approach that focuses on sustainability values and added value," said Menpar Widiyanti.
