JAKARTA - Chairman of BRImo Indonesia Pingpong League (IPL) 2024 Inspector General Muhammad Saleh Mustafa ensured that the IPL event which starts its inaugural season in 2024 will continue in 2025.

"We hope that with the existence of the Indonesia Pingpong League, the revival of Indonesian table tennis can grow again," said Muhammad Saleh Mustafa at the opening ceremony of the BRImo IPL 2024 grand final series at the GBK Arena, Senayan, Jakarta, Saturday.

He explained that the implementation of BRImo IPL 2024 had been reported to the Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo and received full support because the event was considered the right way to develop sports.

Therefore, he said, all administrators or organizers have agreed to continue the table tennis league competition in the following years.

"Yes, (the IPL will be held) every year. So this league, I have also reported to the Minister of Youth and Sports and his directives, his instructions to me to continue to make this IPL a success," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, December 21, 2024.

Muhammad said, in the IPL event in the future, the organizers also invited table tennis clubs who wanted to include foreign players.

This step, he said, was part of efforts to improve the ability of Indonesian athletes because the achievement improvement was not only measured from within the country but also from outside.

"We have to look out, we have to see how the achievements of developed countries in the field of table tennis, so that transfers from that ability exist," he said.

The IPL 2024 event started the first season with four competition series which were attended by 27 teams from various table tennis clubs in the country. The teams competing collected points during the three series so that the best teams would be selected to continue the fourth or grand final series for the title fight.

There are eight teams competing in the grand final round of BRImo IPL 2024 from five table tennis clubs, namely Arwana Jaya, Stoni, Onic, Jasa Raharja Putra, and Sukun Kudus.

In the upcoming 2025 season, the number of teams or competing will most likely increase because there are already new teams that have registered to become league participants.
