Taking Advantage Of The Momentum Of The G20 Presidency, Ahok Opens The Way For Pertamina To Become A World-class Company

JAKARTA - The G20 presidency which will be held in Indonesia will be an important momentum for the green energy transition in Indonesia. President Commissioner of PT Pertamina (Persero), Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok, revealed that the existence of this forum allowed Pertamina to attract strategic cooperation with other companies to achieve its target as a world-class company.

"By cooperating with PLN, of course, as a state-owned company as well as a PT, we will take advantage of every opportunity, especially in terms of attracting strategic partnerships", he said at the DBSI Spring Festival which was held virtually, Thursday, February 10.

As one of the largest economies in Southeast Asia, Indonesia also has great potential in terms of renewable energy. According to him, the G20 is in line with the 8 strategic steps for the energy transition that have been Pertamina's commitment.

These include increasing geothermal generating capacity, utilizing green hydrogen, developing an electric vehicle (EV) battery ecosystem, increasing the installed capacity of EBT plants, gasification through the construction of a methanol plant and the development of Dimethyl Ether (DME), building a green refinery or environmentally friendly refinery, developing bioenergy, and the implementation of a circular carbon economy in several existing fields.

"Pertamina aspires to be the largest in leading renewable energy. Indonesia has the geothermal potential of 1 to 2 Giga Watt, so we open opportunities for cooperation", he said.

The former governor of DKI Jakarta is aiming for strategic cooperation to create an integrated and efficient business process.

"In addition, of course, we can also get the best human resources so that we can get sustainable investment and green financing in this forum", he concluded.
