Jurgen Klopp Supports Nagelsmann To Train The German National Team

JAKARTA Jurgen Klopp reportedly refused the opportunity to become a German manager before DFB switched and appointed Julian Nagelsmann.

Nagelsmann was appointed on Friday (22/9), following Hansi Flick's sacking after Germany was beaten 4-1 by Japan in a recent international break.

Despite recruiting the former manager of Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig, and Hoffenheim, DFB only gave Nagelsmann a contract until July 2024 or the end of Euro 2024 in Germany.

This is what raises speculation that Nagelsmann is not a long-term coach. The Telegraph claims Klopp is still the number one candidate in Germany for the role.

Klopp allegedly refused the opportunity to coach his home country, and preferred to stay at Liverpool. He wants to build a Liverpool team from scratch that can compete for the title in England, as he did between 2018 and 2022.

We are building Liverpool 2.0 here. We want to really compete again and not just see how long it will last, "Klopp said on the RTL as reported by sportsmole.

Klopp also supports the appointment of Nagelsmann, stating he can cope with the pressure that comes from the job, even though he is only 36 years old.

Usia? Completely irrelevant! At the age of 28, he has proven that he is a fantastic coach. He has eight years of experience. Others have it at the age of 45 or 50 at the highest level," said Klopp.

Dortmund's former manager dismissed suggestions he would leave Liverpool to return to Germany to take jobs in the national team. He stressed that he still respects and wants to complete his contract at Anfield.

"I have an obligation to be loyal to Liverpool. My heart is here at Liverpool. You can't just stop eight years," said Jurgen Klopp.
