JAKARTA President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially laid the first stone (ground breaking) to mark the construction of a training center for the Indonesian national team (Timnas) in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN).

The groundbreaking was carried out on Friday, September 22, 2023 morning. The training center for the Indonesian national team is integrated with the construction of IKN.

"By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim ground breaking national training center, I officially declare that it will start," Jokowi said in an official written statement.

This training center for the Indonesian national team will be built on an area of 34.5 hectares. This development is funded by the government and FIFA.

The government disbursed state revenue and expenditure (APBN) budget funds amounting to Rp95 billion, while FIFA provided a Forward grant of Rp85.6 billion.

"This training center will be equipped with dormitories, with a very beautiful and beautiful environment so we hope that later those who practice here will feel at home, and away from crowds," said Jokowi.

The assistance provided by FIFA will later be used for the construction of the first phase training center for two fields, lodging for players and coaches, as well as a dressing room.

Meanwhile, for phase two, there will be construction of eight fields, with details of five large fields, one futsal field, one closed training ground, one beach football field, and also other supporting facilities such as swimming pools to sports science.

PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir said the construction of this sports facility would be accelerated to six months from the initial target of eight months. The acceleration of the development target has also received approval from Jokowi.

"This is an old dream that the football-loving community has been waiting for, where we can finally make history with TC for an integrated national football team," said Erick.
