JAKARTA - The extraordinary achievement was made by the Indonesian contingent at the 2023 ASEAN Para Games. The Red and White Team has sealed the status of the overall champion even though the largest disability sports event in Southeast Asia has not ended.

The Indonesian contingent set a record by recording a hat-trick as the overall champion. In addition, history was also created with the most gold medals.

The Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo said that the achievements, records, and history created in the 2023 ASEAN Para Games are important capital for the development of Indonesian sports with disabilities in the future.

"The medals at the 2023 ASEAN Para Games are the best and great. In addition to winning the most gold medals when they are not the host, they also won the most silver and bronze medals," said the Menpora.

"This is a very important momentum and much needed energy for Indonesia towards better and more advanced Indonesian sports," he continued.

The Minister of Youth and Sports said that the achievement of the overall champion of the ASEAN Para Games in Cambodia was a complete champion because apart from winning the most gold, he also recorded the most silver and bronze medals among other countries.

"So this is the overall champion who is completely plenary. In the ASEAN Para Games event, the Indonesian team broke 15 records, four record numbers from para-weight and 11 from para-swimming, this is a very great spike and proud for the development of Indonesian paralympics," said the Minister of Youth and Sports.

In particular, the Minister of Youth and Sports expressed his gratitude to all relevant parties who have supported the struggle of the Indonesian contingent so that they were able to score a hat trick for the overall champion of the ASEAN Para Games.

As is known, the Red and White team won the ASEAN Para Games three times in a row, namely the 10th APG in Malaysia, 11th in Indonesia, and 12th in Cambodia.
