President Jokowi Hands Over Bonuses For The 2023 Cambodia SEA Games Medal Winners, Total Reaches IDR 289 Billion

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) handed over bonuses to medal-winning athletes at the 2023 SEA Games Cambodia at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday, June 5. The Indonesian government provides a total bonus of IDR 289 billion.

This bonus is given to athletes, coaches and assistant coaches who have won gold, silver and bronze medals in the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia. This is a form of appreciation for the hard work of the nation's fighters in the world of sports.

The Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Dito Ariotedjo said, the award bonus budget was awarded for the achievement of the Indonesian contingent with red 87 gold medals, 80 silver medals and 109 bronze medals.

"The budget needed to give awards in the form of bonuses to sportsmen, sports coaches, and assistant coaches is IDR 289,014,579,979," said Menpora Dito, as quoted by Antara.

Dito said that the achievement of the gold medal at the 2023 SEA Games exceeded the target given by President Jokowi, namely 69 gold medals. This achievement also surpassed the previous achievement, namely the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam with a medal collection of 69 gold medals, 90 silver medals and 81 bronze medals.

In the 2023 SEA Games tournament, the Indonesian contingent also became the overall champion for eight sports, including badminton with 5 gold, 3 silver, 3 bronze medals and then 5 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals.

The bonuses for the biggest sporting awards were given to individual sportsmen for gold medals amounting to Rp525 million, silver Rp315 million and bronze Rp157,500,000.

Meanwhile, for double sportsmen, it is IDR 420 million for gold medals; silver IDR 252 million and bronze IDR 126 million.

Giving sports awards to every sportsman and sports actor who excels and or contributes in advancing sports is an implementation of the provisions of Article 99 Paragraph 1 of Law Number 1 of 2022 concerning Sport and Article 2 Paragraph 1 of Presidential Regulation Number 44 of 2014 concerning the Granting of Sports Awards.
