The US And Israel Are The First Teams To Qualify For The U-20 World Cup Quarter-finals

JAKARTA - The United States national team stepped foot into the U-20 World Cup quarter-finals. Tickets to the last eight were won after defeating New Zealand, Wednesday, May 31, western Indonesia time.

The US won with a landslide score of 4-0 in the last 16 match at the Argentines Malavis Stadium, Mendoza, Argentina. Four US goals were scored by Owen Wolff, Cade Cowell, Justin Che and Rokas Pukstas, respectively.

The Uncle Sam's country team immediately opened the scoring in the 13th minute. A quick attack scheme was completed with Wolff's low kick from outside the penalty box which goalkeeper New Zealand failed to stop, Kees Sims.

The new US second goal came in the 60th minute. The cooperation of three US forwards was completed with Cowell's left-footed shot in the penalty box which broke into the bottom left corner of the Kees Sim goal to change the score to 2-0.

New Zealand conceded again in the 75th minute. Goals stemmed from a quick counter-attack, Diego Luna dribbled from his own territory until the middle of the pitch then sent a through ball to Cowell who passed the opposing goalkeeper and sent a pull pass into the center of the box.

Luna managed to grab the ball in front of goal, but it could still be blocked by New Zealand defenders before the rebound ball was kicked by Justin Che into a goal. The score becomes 3-0.

The US perfected their dominant performance by scoring their fourth goal in the 81st minute. This time it was Rokas Pukstas who made his name on the scoreboard after headed home the ball from Brandan Craig's free kick on the left.

No additional goals were created until the game was over. The United States won 4-0 over New Zealand.

The United States again penetrated the U-20 World Cup quarter-finals after doing so in 2019. However, they were eliminated by the Ecuadorian U-20 national team.

Apart from the United States, Israel succeeded in overthrowing Uzbekistan with a narrow score of 1-0. Anan Khalalli scored his only goal in the 90+7 minute.
