The Indonesian Contingent Begins To Harvest Gold Medals At The 2023 Asia Rifle/Pistol Cup

JAKARTA - The Indonesian contingent opened the gold medal faucet at the 2023 Rifle/Pistol Asia Cup on Friday, March 3. The faucet was opened by shooting athlete Fathur Gustafian.

He was the best in the men's 10-meter Air Rifle senior category at the Senayan Shooting Range, Jakarta, Friday.

Fathur ensured gold after defeating South Korean representative Byounggil Choo in the final with a score of 17-15. Red and White's mainstay shooter appears consistent in aiming at targets.

The bronze belonged to Malaysia's Haritz, who was in third place in the ranking battle with 257.4.

Meanwhile in the men's 10-meter Air Rifle junior category, Indonesia dominated with a clean sweep of the podium.

Athallah Ahza won the gold medal after scoring 618.7. Then Rifqi Ramdha got silver after posting 616.9 and Raditya Nur Pradana got bronze after pocketing a score of 615.5.

The Men's 10-meter Air Rifle competition for the senior and junior categories was the opening of a total of 23 race numbers for both the senior, junior, and youth categories in the championship which was participated in by 12 countries.

Fathur's victory is also a good start for the hosts who are targeting to become the overall champion. Based on data from the organizers, there are 38 competing names of Merah Putih representatives.

This is the second time that Indonesia has hosted an international shooting event in 2023 after the 2023 Rifle/Pistol World Cup or ISSF World Cup at the Senayan Shooting Range, on January 27-February 7.

At that time, the host was in sixth place in the medal standings with two gold and four bronze. Kazakhstan became the participating country with the most medals, namely three gold, five silver, and three bronze.
