Terence Crawford Returns to Challenge Errol Spence Jr

JAKARTA - American boxer Terence Crawford defended his WBO welterweight world title. He won a knockout in the sixth round over British boxer David Avanesyan last Saturday.

The win improved his already impressive record to 39-0. However, he was not satisfied.

Crawford still has ambitions. He hinted that a fight with undefeated welterweight boxer Errol Spence Jr. could happen.

In his post-fight press conference against Avanesyan, Crawford said, "This is a one fight deal."

"Hopefully, we can get to the ring and this big fight will happen in the near future," he continued, quoted by The Sun.

Crawford and Spence had never met each other before. In fact, they have been involved in negotiations several times.

They came close to fighting in November, but negotiations broke down once again. The fight that world boxing fans have been waiting for is expected to take place next year.

Sometime before Crawford's clash with Avanesyan, Spence was involved in a major car accident.

The 32-year-old man allegedly collided with a 14-year-old who took his parents' car, although the details have not been officially confirmed.

After hearing about the incident, Crawford offered Spence well wishes. "I hope he is well, mentally, physically and emotionally," he said.

"It's just sport. We all fight for that number one position, so it's nothing personal. It's just business," he continued.
