Failed Drug Test Twice, Can Conor Benn Remain in the Ring? Promoter Eddied Hearn's Answer Makes You Unbelievable

JAKARTA - Promoter Eddie Hearn claims boxer Conor Benn will enter the ring sooner than expected after failing several drug tests.

The aspiring welterweight star previously failed two tests in preparation for his historic fight against Chris Eubank Jr. in October. The dueling plan was later canceled.

Benn failed a drug test after traces of the female fertility drug Clomiphene, which can increase testosterone levels in men, were found in her system.

However, the WBC is expected to reconsider its decision on the results of the investigation at the end of this month. Hearn also believes the evidence provided will pave the way for The Destroyer to return to the ring soon.

"I can't wait because I think a lot of people are going to be surprised by what's going to come out with Conor Benn", Hearn said as quoted by The Sun on Tuesday, December 6, 2022.

"I think he's going to be fighting quicker than you think. If he gets a ban, from the information we have, I don't think it's necessarily fair", he added.

The 26-year-old boxer currently maintains his innocence. He insisted that accidentally ingesting a banned substance was found in his system.

However, his denials did not stop the WBC from banning Benn from fighting. The parent organization even went so far as to remove him from their ranks after he was deemed to have committed an anti-doping violation.

"But if it is, I don't think it's going to be a long ban at all. I don't want to get too confident, but I think it will be very interesting what comes out here", said Hearn.
