Mikel Arteta Starts Confidence Can Help Arsenal Win Premier League This Season

JAKARTA - Mikel Arteta is starting to believe he can lead Arsenal to win the English Premier League this season after he led his team back to the top of the standings after beating Chelsea.

The Gunners brought home their 15th week win from Stamford Bridge Stadium after beating hosts Chelsea through a single goal netted by Gabriel Magalhaes in the 63rd minute.

Arteta also began to talk about his team's winning chances after this important victory. He said that currently, they are in competition to come out as champions but the season is still long.

"We compete [for the Premier League title], today. In football, today and tomorrow are very different, but let's enjoy the moment", Arteta said.

Arsenal currently collects 34 points from 13 matches that have been undertaken. They are two points ahead of reigning champions Manchester City who are trailing in second place with the same number of games.

With the difference in numbers as thin as that, Arsenal needs to maintain their consistency to avoid City's chance to coup them. The Citizen has also performed well so far in having a great chance of winning.

"Manchester City has the best manager in the world, the best team in the world. They have shown that consistently in every competition. We have gotten much better as a team, compete much better, and get very good results now", said Arteta.

"Obviously it's still early in the season. We have to keep that up. It's going to be a very long marathon, but we've had a very good start", he added.

Arteta has so far collected 87 wins from 150 games for Arsenal. That record makes him five wins ahead of Arsene Wenger in the same number of games.
