The latest record was made by Messi when he led Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to beat Maccabi Haifa 7-2 in the fifth matchday of Group H of the European Champions League on Wednesday morning yesterday.

In that match, the player nicknamed La Pulga managed to score two goals and provide two assists. This brings him to a total of 11 goals and 12 assists in 16 games in all competitions this season.

Another player who came closest to that record was Cody Gakpo of PSV Eindhoven. The Dutch national team player who operates on the wing has scored 12 goals and provided 10 assists.
