Convinced Arsenal can compete for the 2022/2023 Premier League title, Arsene Wenger: There is no weak position in this team

JAKARTA - Former Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger believes his former team can compete for the Premier League title this season.

The French coach claims that currently, the Gunners have a squad that supports his estimates. According to him, the team made by Mikel Arteta has no weaknesses and has developed well.

"I can say they are in the right direction. To be honest, I don't think there are any weak positions in this team... they have young, promising players and they have spent well this year," Wenger said.

The north London side currently sits top of the Premier League standings on 15 points having won five of their first six games of the season.

That good start to the season could motivate the Gunners to try to at least finish in the top four at the end of the season. They have not been able to achieve this position since the 2016/2017 season.

Last season they almost did it. Unfortunately, at the end of the season, they were two points adrift of city rivals Tottenham Hotspur who finished in the last four places.

Wenger said he believes Arsenal can achieve their target of finishing in the top four this season. In fact, they could have done more by challenging a team like Manchester City for the title.

"No team has completely dominated this season and Arsenal has a chance with the potential there. We used to be in the top four and why not anymore?" said Wenger.

"You can't even rule out the fact that they can fight for the title and hopefully they can," added the 72-year-old.

Arsenal has not tasted the Premier League title since the last time they did so in the 2003/2004 season. At that time they lifted the trophy without losing all season.
