PSG Win 2-1 Over Juventus, Christophe Galtier Praises But Also Gives Criticism

JAKARTA - Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) coach Christophe Galtier welcomed his team's victory over Juventus in the inaugural match of the 2022-2023 Champions League.

However, he not only praised his team's performance but also criticism for Neymar Jr and his friends.

PSG won with a score of 2-1 in the first match of the Group H phase of the 2022/2023 Champions League at the Parc des Princes Stadium, Paris, Wednesday 7 September WIB. Kylian Mbappe scored two goals against Juventus.

Meanwhile, one goal from Juventus was made by Weston McKennie.

Galtier appreciated the victory in this match, he said he was happy with the whole teamwork.

"I'm overall happy with the team's performance", Galtier was quoted as saying by Football Italia.

However, the coach also did not deny any shortcomings. According to Galtier, his team performed well in the early rounds but experienced a decline in enthusiasm after the second half.

This situation caught the attention of the coach. "We had problems after the break because we let too many chances", said Galtier.

"I'm satisfied with what we did in the first half. But our position was wrong at the short bend, it was meant to be a different plan."

"We gave the opponent a chance, but this is the Champions League, and we also have a chance to score our third goal", he continued.

Former LOSC Lille coach then commented on the trio performance of the front line of Les Parisiens filled with Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Neymar Jr. He was happy that all three of them were getting along.

PSG's victory over Juventus made them now in first place in Group H with three points. That number is the same as Benfica's, who won over Maccabi Haifa in another match.
