After 'flying' From A Motorbike At The Austrian MotoGP, Joan Mir Feels Lucky That His Leg Bones Are Only Cracked

JAKARTA - Suzuki racer, Joan Mir, suffered a fractured bone in his right ankle. In addition, he also suffered an injury to the ligament.

This injury was obtained by Joan Mir after "flying" from his motorbike during the Austrian MotoGP race, last weekend. He was thrown from his motorbike after experiencing a highside at Turn four.

The 2020 MotoGP world champion then fell in the gravel and was immediately taken to the Spielberg medical center.

"I had a very bad accident at Turn four. I lost the rear (grip) and it was a highside. It could have been much worse, so I feel lucky," said Mir.

"Initial examinations showed several fractures in my ankle. Next I will do a follow-up examination and an MRI to check the ligaments," he continued.

Joan Mir is confirmed to be absent from the Misano MotoGP at San Marino. However, he believes he can race again in the next series.

"After undergoing several tests, the doctor advised me to rest 15 days and evaluate after that period," said Mir, as quoted from the official MotoGP website.

"I will miss the Misano race, but I believe I can return to Aragon," he continued.

Mir also said, it's been a tough season. However, he is confident that he will come back stronger to present an extraordinary moment for the team and all those who have supported him.
