JAKARTA - Villarreal has again loaned attacking midfielder Giovani Lo Celso from Tottenham Hotspur for the 2022-23 season, both teams announced on Sunday night.

Lo Celso played for Villarreal on loan from Tottenham for the remainder of the 2021-22 season and made 21 appearances in all competitions, contributing one goal and one assist.

Quoted by Antara, Villarreal's official website states that Lo Celso has passed a medical test as a step to finalize his loan contract from Tottenham.

Lo Celso is scheduled to start following the team's training session on Monday local time before undergoing an official introduction process by Villarreal a day later.

The Argentine midfielder is Villarreal's fourth signing in the summer transfer market this season.

Villarreal have previously bought full-back Kiko Femenia from Watford and have acquired aging goalkeeper Pepe Reina and experienced striker Jose Luis Morales for free.

Unai Emery's team started the 2022-23 Spanish League by bagging a convincing 3-0 victory at the headquarters of promoted Real Valladolid on Saturday.

Lo Celso could make his second Villarreal debut when they host Croatian side Hadjuk Split in the first leg of their Conference League playoffs on Thursday, August 18.
